International banking and finance

Objectives At the end of the semester students will be required to demonstrate an understanding of the following concepts available financing techniques; structure of international financial markets; foreign currency regimes and hedging techniques; characteristics of international banking; analysis of current issues.

Synopsis The international monetary system; debt and country risk; the foreign exchange market; hedging; use of the foreign exchange market; the Euromarkets; foreign banks; multinational banking; tax havens and offshore financial centres.

Assessment Assignment: 40% * Tutorial participation: 10% * Final examination (3 hours): 50%
