Management of retail enterprises

Synopsis This subject aims to provide students with an understanding of the management of retail organisations and the application of retail organisations and the application of retail strategic and financial planning. It is anticipated that students will gain an awareness of the issues, problems and practices involved in managing a retail operation; an appreciation of the role of the retailing industry in distribution, its structure and its dynamics; an understanding of retail merchandise; planning, buying and control; an understanding of retail store location, layout, presentation and management; an understanding of current theories and techniques used in the formulation and implementation of retail business strategy.

Assessment Assignment (2000 words): 20% * Field project (3000 words): 30% * Final examination (2 hours): 50%
