Business statistics and forecasting

Objectives On completion of this subject students should be able to collect and understand data relevant to banking, finance and international trade; determine and apply relevant statistical techniques to enable analysis, forecasting and valid statistical conclusions to be drawn; understand the limitation of data and technique used in forecasting and making conclusions.

Synopsis Development of statistical tools and methodology to enable students to make statistical inferences about population parameters; data collection and control; simple and multiple regression analyses, time-series analysis, forecasting methology and control.

Assessment Three assignments: 40% * Final examination (2 hours): 60% * Students must pass the final examination in order to achieve an overall pass in this subject. The final examination will cover the entire course and will be a closed book examination.
