Synopsis This subject will consider some of the issues associated with the analysis of financial statements. The subject will cover the following topics; the regulation of financial reporting; the use of ratios to analyse financial statements; the problems of ratio analysis; the use of ratio analysis for financial distress prediction; a review of the empirical research on financial distress prediction; fundamental analysis; empirical evidence on the links between financial information and the market prices of securities; share returns and financial information; options and financial information; timeliness of annual reports; and bond ratings, bond yields and financial information.
