Introduction to sociology II

6 points * 3 hours per week * Second semester * Caulfield * Prerequisites: SCY1051, or equivalent

Introduction to further substantive issues of sociological significance. Introduction to research. The nature and relevance of sociological perspectives. Substantive areas include mass media, racism, education, work and the body. Overview of the research process; introduction to research design; observation and description of a social setting.

Assessment

Essay and tutorial presentation (2000 words): 40% * Research project (5000 words): 35% * Test (1 hour): 25%
