This subject is designed to develop in students a sophisticated appreciation of the interplay between moral theory and practical public decision making. Some of the main topics are: is there any difference between public and private morality? What should we decide about the morality of IVF, abortion, euthanasia, assassination and nuclear weapons? Has the environment an intrinsic value?
