Analytical and compositional techniques I

This subject aims to strengthen students' analytical and compositional skills. Leading methods of harmonic and formal analysis are learnt by application to representative works of various periods and genres, with a concentration on the structure of music in the tonal era.

Assessment

Written (1500 words): 20% * Examinations (1.5 hours): 40% * Assignments, option of notated exercise in place of written work: 40%
