Study of the relationship between sex/gender, language use and communicative behaviour. Examination of differences in the language use and communication patterns of the sexes as evidenced in a variety of languages including some Australian Aboriginal languages, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Swedish and Thai.
Assessment
Essay (4000 words): 45% * Examination (1 hour): 20% * Fieldwork and class paper: 35%
