This subject is designed to continue on from JPL1030. It aims to continue the development of basic communicative competence in spoken Japanese and the introduction of the Japanese writing system. It will focus upon interaction with the Japanese in regular business situations. It is necessary to complete successfully JPL1030 and JPL1040 (or acceptable combination) to proceed to the second-year language sequence. Students are recommended to enrol concurrently for JPS1070 (Sources of contemporary Japanese culture and society).
