Comprehensive Japanese IA: part 1

6 points * 6 hours per week * First semester * Clayton * Prerequisites: no prior knowledge of the language is expected

This subject aims to develop basic communicative competence in spoken Japanese, and to provide an introduction to written Japanese. It will develop the student's competence to interact successfully with the Japanese in basic situations. It is the first part of a two-semester sequence and is designed to be followed by JPL1020. Both JPL1010 and JPL1020 must be taken in order to proceed to the second-year language sequence. Students are recommended to enrol concurrently for JPS1090 (Understanding contemporary Japan).

Assessment

Written: 60% * listening comprehension test: 10% * performance activities: 15% * quizzes and assignments: 15%
