6 points * 5 hours per week * First semester * Clayton * Prerequisites: VCE Italian or equivalent

The subject will consist of two sections: (i) Language and (ii) Modern Italian in context. (i) Language: advanced practical language acquisition with emphasis on proficiency in speaking and writing. Consolidation and extension of grammatical knowledge through a systematic revision of grammatical structures. The teaching and communication medium is Italian (60%). (ii) Modern Italian in context: study of a range of modern Italian texts with reference to the social and cultural contexts in which they were written (40%). Three films will be screened in conjunction with the course.

Assessment

Examinations: 40% * Continuous assessment (oral and written work): 60%
