Subject value of 1.0 (6 points) * 6 hours per week * First semester * Gippsland/Distance * Prerequisites: Distance education; GSC1101, GSC1102, GSC1201, GSC1202 * Corequisites: Full-time internal; GSC1101, GSC1201, GSC1301

Knowledge, values and skills of welfare practice. Introduction to social casework, family welfare work and group work in welfare practice. Compulsory two-day residential workshop at second WES for distance education students, during which area study groups will be formed and debriefed. There will be three compulsory meetings of area groups thereafter. Students will have been made aware of and agreed to attend these commitments during the selection process. Teleconference contact with the subject advisers will be available to groups and individual students by prior arrangement.

Assessment

Case work assignment (1000 words): 20% * Group work assignment (2000 words): 40% * Examination (2 hours): 40%
