This subject will deal with principles of research design and analysis in psychology. There are two main components: methodology and statistics. Methodological issues to be covered relate to methods of data collection, operationalising variables, experimental design, control problems, and classifying threats to valid inference. Statistical procedures to be covered include revision of chi square test, t-test and correlation; simple regression will be introduced as will more advanced topics such as ANOVA. Distance education students are required to attend one full-day program at weekend schools.
