This subject covers developmental aspects of human behaviour across the lifespan. A topical approach within a chronological framework is adopted. Specialised aspects of development such as biosocial; cognitive and psychosocial are explored within specific stages/phases such as the prenatal period, infancy, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, old age, dying and death. Theoretical perspectives on the study of human development, and research methodologies employed in the field of study are compared and contrasted. Distance education students are required to attend one full day and one half-day at weekend schools. Students for whom attending more than once is difficult may request alternative work to the half-day program.
