French for business and trade

This subject is aimed at students intending to use French professionally in industry and commerce. In the lecture students are introduced to the economic role of languages, types of discourse and the problems of intercultural communication. The structure of the French economy and France's place in international trade are also described and analysed. In the tutorials students will develop and apply their French language skills in a range of business and social situations by means of practical business-related tasks based on real or realistic business situations. All forms of written and spoken French business communications (including telephone) will be covered.

Assessment

Oral and written business language tasks and final business language assignment: 75% * Written examination: 25%
