Culture and identity in contemporary France

This subject will explore major aspects of contemporary French civilisation through a range of selected authentic documents covering visual and musical aspects of culture as well as social and political structures and significant literary trends. The subject is organised in modular form with each module emphasising a particular theme. It will be team-taught, with most classes conducted in French.

Assessment

Written (2000 words): 40% * Examinations (2 hours): 30% * Class presentation in English (20 minutes with a 500-word resume in French): 30%
