Role of the regulating agencies in fraud control

3 hours per week * Second semester * Caulfield/Distance

To review and assess the role and effectiveness of the various corporate regulators in Australia and overseas. The traditional role and powers of the police will be reviewed and compared with the role and powers of other agencies such as the Australian Securities Commission and the Securities Exchange Commission. Consideration of the moral and ethical issues of self regulation.

Assessment

Major essay (4000 words): 40% * Minor essay (1500 words): 30% * Tutorial (1000 words): 20% * Class participation: 10%
