Australian fraud studies

3 hours per week * First semester * Caulfield/Distance

Analysis of historic, contemporary concepts, theories and predictions of fraudulent activities by individuals, corporations and structures in Australia. Review of the development of fraud and white collar crime in Australia from the arrival of the First Fleet, through the financial collapses of the 1890s, the postwar period to the deregulated 1980s and beyond. Understanding of the position of Australia in the 24-hour financial market. The role that social structures such as banks, insurance companies, other corporations and individuals play in the development of fraud.

Assessment

Major essay (4000 words): 40% * Two minor essays (1500 words each): 60%
