Methodology

This subject examines analytical theories and practices with respect to classical texts from ancient to modern eras. The subject is intended to introduce students to a range of research techniques and perspectives. Issues to be considered include: orality and literacy; the evolution of different types of text; genre specific treatments and subject matter; ideological, class, and gender traditions and influences; the implications of contemporary cultural theories for classical texts.
