This subject examines Australia's relationship with Britain from the 1900s to the present day. It looks at the changing orientation of Australian trade, foreign policy and cultural ties, and considers the role of the monarchy as Australia approaches the centenary of federation. The background to the current debate over republicanism is examined in detail and the arguments for and against are considered.
