Imperial Egypt and the Mediterranean world

8 points * 3 hours per week * First semester * Clayton

The subject provides a detailed description and analysis of ancient Egyptian culture at its height during its best documented phase, the New Kingdom or Empire (Dynasties XVIII-XX; 1550-1069 BC). It will examine the evidence of texts, monuments and archaeological data. A main theme to be developed is Egypt in the wider context of the ancient Mediterranean world of the Late Bronze Age.

Assessment

Written (4000 words): 60% * Examinations (2 hours): 40%
