The archaeology and history of Ancient Egypt: 1550-30 BC

C A Hope

8 points * 3 hours per week * Second semester * Clayton

This subject entails the study of the ancient Egyptian New Kingdom, Late Period and Ptolemaic (Hellenistic) Period and ends with the Roman conquest of Egypt. It will follow the same general themes and format as ARY2970 but will also include a study of the international character of Egyptian civilisation throughout the period and examine Egypt's relations with the other Near Eastern and Mediterranean cultures. It will look at the changes which occurred within Egypt as a result of foreign contact and invasion.

Written (4000 words): 65% * Examinations (2 hours): 35%
