Dating in archaeology

Knowledge of excavation methods and dating techniques are basic equipment for the archaeology student and practitioner. The subject deals with the process of excavating a site and describes and assesses various non-scientific and scientific methods of dating artefacts and the context in which they are found.

Assessment

Written (4000 words): 60% * Examinations (2 hours): 40%
